Vickery Palm Springs Resort and Spa
By Diane Naczi

When you think of Palm Springs, Calif., images of desert sand, abundant sunshine and relaxation likely emerge. And a trip to the chic Vickery Palm Springs Resort and Spa provides all of those, plus more. The Viceroy, a boutique property within the Kors Hotel Group Collection, is best described as a distinctive luxury resort and spa. The property seems plucked from a 1940s Hollywood movie set, where pets sit on the laps of famous actresses while sipping drinks in big, floppy brimmed hats next to a refreshing pool. Located in the heart of Palm Springs, a desert enclave at the base of the San Jacinto Mountains, it is just a two-hour drive from Los Angeles or San Diego. Situated two blocks from Palm Canyon Drive, restaurants, shops, PGA-quality golf courses, tennis and entertainment are within easy walking distance.
Pets are treated royally from the moment they enter the large persimmon-colored doors. A major pet-friendly cue is the fact that the Viceroy’s logo features elegant whippets which can be seen everywhere—stationery, mats, even stone carvings. At check-in, your dog is treated to his or her very own bowl of ice water, which you can keep as a lasting momento of the trip. Pets are welcome at the pool as well as Citron, the innovative on-property gourmet restaurant. Citron provides a unique breakfast, lunch and dinner dining experience, offering traditional and innovative California Modern menu selections, a California boutique wine list and poolside service. Room service is available 24 hours a day and features a Pooch Menu of doggie treats that change seasonally. The concierge can arrange pet-sitting services while owners treat themselves to a night out, or grooming services off-property.
